"Pam is someone very special to talk with. Her perspectives with life and the struggles we all face, great or small are extremely healthy. Better than any other 'therapist' Pam is truly a life coach."

“I lack confidence,” a client informed me.  “I need to have it in order to do my job.”   I’ve known him for awhile and know he is a dedicated and meticulous employee.  I got red flagged. What was going on?

Upon further evaluation and discussion, my client became more aware of the fact that for the last year his new boss requires employees to do more work within the same amount of time.  My client shared that he and others informed the boss that what she was asking them to do was impossible; she didn’t listen.  After that, her attitude changed.  She became sarcastic and even undermined some of their work.   One was fired.  My client was waiting for the ax to fall on him.  “When will I get fired, too?  I need confidence to do the job,” my client stated again.

No he didn’t.  My client didn’t lack confidence!  He had confidence.  But it was shaken when his employer demanded that he live outside of his design.  She demanded that he do what is impossible for him to do.  My client was tired of feeling depressed and anxious.  He was tired of resorting to alcohol as a way to cope with stress.

With my help, my client set boundaries; he began to live his design.   Instead of working over 65 hours a week, he now works 55.  He’s back to working out; he’s back to eating healthy foods instead of going through drive-thru’s.  He’s becoming emotionally and physically fit again.  He understands that living his design might cost him his job.  He realizes that his mental and physical well-being is more important than the great salary he earns.  He is looking for other work just in case the ax falls on him.   (Freedom always costs somebody something.)

Sometimes we do lack confidence.  We may need someone to help us with that.

At other times, we may need to set boundaries and need help doing that.

In either case, Living Your Design is the way to go.  Are you aware of yours?

“Stay healthy; it’s good for you!” (Uncle Marvin Monroe Walker)
